A Beautiful Mess
I haven't been around much lately. Life has been a bit overwhelming. Nothing terrible, just busy family life. With 4 little ones (I guess Jared's not so little anymore), some days I feel like a jack-in-the-box--down one minute, only to pop up seconds later. I don't intend to answer to their every beck and call, but they're young. They think their needs must be met immediately. Even having to stop what I'm doing to tell them to wait a minute or two interrupts my train of thought. And if their response is a little temper tantrum, then I'm completely lost! I'm constantly on the move trying to figure out what I was headed to do next.
Here are a few things that have kept me afloat:
- Daily Bible Reading with the help of Kay Arthur's Inductive Bible Study series
- My in-home Friday date night with Phil (because he doesn't need to study on Friday nights)
- Baking something every now and then
- Making a latte every afternoon
- Reading this post over and over, and I just found this one today.
- Spending Saturday mornings in a coffee shop.
Beds didn't get made this morning and my kitchen floor looks like a toy box just exploded. Yes, we have a toy box in the kitchen. I'm not sharing all of this to complain. I am thankful to have a home full of happy, healthy children. I'm thankful for the little faces I see around the breakfast table every morning. I'm thankful for the times I get to hear the kids laughing together.
Just wanted to check in and let all of you know that we're still here and didn't get buried under a pile of snow!

in other words you are having a "mom" moment! I recall when we briefly lived in Denver Colorado and experienced my first blizzard! Feeling cut off in 1981 was a real trial, NO INTERNET! Audy too was in school and I had not 4 but 2 small children. Now I am an empty nester and a Nana of 4 sweet children. Time has flown by and those two sweet children are now mommy and daddy's of their own. Funny they say, "mom how in the world did you ever do it ALL? My reply, "one day at a time just like you!" You are a wonderful mom!
I'm feelin' ya! ;)
Take heart, Jenny. When your kids are at that age, it feels like they will be little forever. At least that's what I thought. It seems like just a short time ago that Cameron was Jared's age and the girls were four. This year Cameron will be 18 and the girls will be 16. It just flies by. I still can't believe it. Try to savor the moments. Love you, xox
Which Kay Arthur study would you recommend?
All of them! I'll send you an email about them...
Do you ever get to the end of the day and wonder what, if anything got done? And then think really hard and realize that you spent the entire day just trying to pick up in one section of the house (for me it's my kitchen counters)?!
